Poonch, Oct 18: Although state government is claiming to provide quality road connectivity in the state but these assertions seem baseless when one sees the condition of roads in Poonch.
Locals said all the roads in Poonch are in dilapidated condition due to alleged involvement of Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B) department and contractors.
According to locals, there are many macadamised roads in Poonch district which have been dilapidated/dislodged before the agreement made between contractors and department.
Sources from Mendhar, Mandi, Poonch, Surankote and other local areas said, contractors have used substandard tarcoal to blacktop the roads, which has been dislodged within one year while government has issued guidelines for 36 months warranty between department and contractors.
Locals have alleged that Executive Engineer is backing the contractors with some unknown interests. They have appealed to governor Satya Pal Malik to investigate the matter through investigation agencies so that, the public property may prevent from corrupt officials. |
