BARAMULLA, Oct 19: Ahead of counting for ULB polls in J&K, two Jaish militants were killed today in a brief shootout as the militants had fired on a naka party in Kralhar Baramulla in this north Kashmir district.
DIG CRPF, Rajesh Kumar Yadev while speaking to media on the sidelines of a shootout said that, from past several days there was a permanent naka on Baramulla-Srinagar NHW at Kralhar Kanispora.
"A black colour Scorpio was travelling from Srinagar to Baramulla and the vehicle was stopped for routine check-up, when militant opened fire with pistol on naka party, the DIG said.
He said that in retaliation, one militant was killed on the spot while another militant had tried to escape from the narrow street towards the railway crossing near Food Corporation of India (FCI) that is stationed at Kralhar.
The injured militants started firing upon the security forces, but he was killed in retaliatory fire, the DIG said.
Meanwhile Baramulla Police issued a statement that at about 1330 hours one Scorpio vehicle bearing Registration Number JK 01 L5792 coming from Srinagar side was signaled to stop at Naka near Kralhar,Baramulla manned by Police and Security forces. While being checked two militants boarding the vehicle fired upon police and security forces. In the brief exchange of fire both the terrorists got killed and one police man received minor injuries..
Huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of killed militants including AK Series Rife 1, AK Magazine 1, UBGL 1, Pistol (Chinese) 2, Pistol Magazines 6, AK rounds 19, Pistol rounds 52, Grenade 3, and UBGL Grenade 2.
A case vides FIR No 176/2018 was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation taken up.
Driver of the vehicle has been arrested and vehicle has been seized.
Meanwhile SSP Baramulla, Mir Imtiyaz Hussian told media person that, the slain militants have been identified as Faizan and Wahab both are believed to be Pakistanis and affiliated with JeM.
However sources said that, two militants have been killed in a brief shootout at Kralhar near Railway station in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday afternoon.
They said that, from past couple of days, militancy related incidents have increased in north Kashmir districts, as yesterday army claimed to have killed 3-4 infiltrators in Upper reaches of Boniyar forests.
The militants have increased their movements ahead of Panchayat elections, and ahead of ULB results, two foreign militants were killed today in Baramulla, sources told ET.
