FC HUDD visits proposed works of ERA

Rajouri, Nov 10: Financial Commissioner Housing and Urban Development Department K.B. Agarwal visited proposed work of ERA-Urban Development Sector under proposed ADB Loan-III in wee hours today.
He was accompanied by CEO ERA Dr. Raghav Langer, Anil Gupta, Secretary Housing, Pawan Singh Rathore, Vice Chairman JDA and other senior officers of ERA, R&B, UEED, JDA and Housing. The visit started from Nowabad Police Post Jewel Chowk to Bhagwati Nagar Chowk for review of proposed construction of 2.2 km road. Thereafter, Financial Commissioner visited the site proposed for construction of 4 lane road from Bhagwati Nagar (Rotary) to Jammu by-pass ring road at Bhagatpur.
The two roads have been proposed to decongest the traffic at ever busy Jewel Chowk, canal road and optimal use of the fourth Tawi Bridge.
The proposal of ERA for development of water body, creation of green spaces and development of cycle track in the available chunk of land from Yatri Bhavan at Bhagwati Nagar and Yog Sansthan at Gole Gujral on the right bank of river Tawi was also visited by the officers. CEO ERA apprised FC that treated water from 67 MLD STPs can also be utilized for this purpose. FC, H&UDD suggested that a flood protection wall from 4th bridge downstream upto Bhagatpur will not only protect from river erosion but thousands of canals of land can be reclaimed with this embankment work.
It was decided to propose it under Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project which is part of ERA.
The various projects works under H&UDD in the context of Smart City and Jammu Economic Centre were also discussed. The Financial Commissioner directed all concerned departments to frame the proposals with inter-departmental coordination as an ambitious planning/exercise has been taken by JDA for future development of Jammu City (satellite townships) in the area from Bhagwati Nagar to Bhagatpur, Jagti etc.
