As per details available with Early Times, the NIA team headed by SSP Rakesh Kumar and Inspector Amit Kumar will investigate some of the major militancy-related incidents that took place in Kishtwar in last over two decades and also the case of surrendered militants, jailed militants, and those who had returned from Pakistan under the rehabilitation scheme.
The sources said that NIA has sought the help of Kishtwar police in collecting and providing the details pertaining to surrendered militants. Besides, the sources said, they will also investigate few encounters that took place in Kishtwar town where dreaded militants were killed by the security forces including some Pakistani militants.
The sources said that around 274 people were on the probe list of the NIA that is in the process of preparing a detailed memo with regard to the their activities.
The NIA team also visited Tapal Gali, where Parihar brothers were gunned down by unidentified gunmen. But a senior police officer, privy to the probe into the Parihar brothers killing, said that NIA has not taken over the case. He said Kishtwar police had sought some technical assistance from the NIA officials which was provided by them.
The officer said it is premature to comment on investigation going on in the Parihar brothers killing. He said that media will be briefed at right time and that SIT probing the incident is working on certain leads which could lead them towards the killers.
Meanwhile, sources said that NIA team is scrutinizing the mobile phone seized from an OGW arrested by Kishtwar police few months ago and is trying to retrieve the data from the said phone in addition to the data already recovered by the Kishtwar police.
The sources said that NIA team will also probe into the links of Assamese national Qamar Zamma who was arrested by the UPA ATS. The NIA will look into the circumstances that forced him to join militancy rank from Kishtwar.
The sources said that Qamar Zamma had successfully managed to establish his base in Kishtwar forest with the help of some local youths which needs to be identified so that the OGW network which is active in Kishtwar could be busted.
