| DEO issues notification for elections of Prez, VPs for 5 municipalities | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 10: District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri has issued notification for the elections of presidents and vice presidents of 5 municipalities in the district for which the election was held recently.
BJP has clear majority in Sunderbani and Nowshera Municipalities while it needs support of two members to lead Rajouri Municipality.
Congress has 9 members for Thanamandi Municipality and independents are all set to lead Kalakot municipality with 6 members out of 7.
Independents may lead Rajouri municipality because out of 17, BJP has won 7 seats, Congress 6 and independents emerged winners on 4 seats.
To stop Congress for the post of president, BJP is all set to support the independents from outside.
Similar strategy has also been chalked out by the Congress and may support the independent candidate namely Sanjay Sharma for the post of president, Meanwhile, Kalakot is all set to have independent president.
As per notification the nominations for the posts of presidents and presidents can be submitted between November 12 and14 (from 11 am to 4 pm) and scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on November 15.
Rajouri district have 5 municipalities with headquarters at Rajouri, Thanamandi, Kalakot, Sunderbani and Nowshera.
MA Asad, who is also Deputy Commissioner said that the elections for these posts will be held through secret ballots. The polling will be held from 11 am to 4 pm.
Rajouri MC has 17 members, Thanamandi, Sunderbani and Nowshera municipalities have 13 members each while Kalakot MC has 7 members. |
