Day ahead of Chhattisgarh polls, Naxal attack injures BSF jawan in IED blast
11/11/2018 10:55:41 AM

At least one BSF jawan was injured on Sunday in an IED blast after a Naxal attack at Kanker district in election-bound Chhattisgarh.

The jawans were conducting a search when the Naxals launched an attack.

A set of six IEDs were planted in a series and were set off in one go between the villages of Gome and Gattakal in Koyali beda.

A BSF ASI, identified as Mahendra Singh, was injured in the blast in Kanker district's Koyali beda. The jawan will be treated at Antagarh Hospital.

Meanwhile, in another encounter with security forces, a Maoist was killed and another apprehended in Bijapur district on Saturday. Reportedly, arms and ammunition were also recovered.

The encounter is still underway between security forces and Maoists.

This is a developing story. More details are awaited.

The attack comes in less than a fortnight after two security forces personnel and Doordarshan cameraman were killed in an attack by Naxals in Aranpur in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Tuesday
