2 Inter-state drug smugglers held, over 26 kilogram Charas recovered

Jammu, Nov 11: Continuing its War against drugs, Component Police of Jammu district today achieved a success by busting a gang of inter-state narcotic smugglers and making a recovery of consignment of high quality Charas (Cannabis) from their possession.
Police spokesman said that acting on specific information, SP Police Component, Jammu-SSP Sandeep Mehta deputed a team of Component sleuths headed by Inspector Bharat Sharma, who laid a joint naka at Mansar Morh Samba along with Police Party of Police Station, Samba.
"During the checking of vehicles, one Santro Car bearing registration number DL3CAL-3696 was stopped and during comprehensive search of the said vehicle, 26.5 Kg of high quality charas (cannabis) which was concealed in specially designed chambers inside the body of Santro Car was recoevered", said spokesman.
Spokesman further said that concealments were so intelligently made that cops had to work hard to locate the consignment and on further enquiry, the two persons on board disclosed their identity as Manjoor Ahmed and Tawseef of Kupwara, Kashmir.
In this regard, a case under FIR No. 293/2018 under section 8/20/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered in Samba police station. The said consignment of Narcotics and the vehicle have been seized and both the persons have been arrested. Further investigation is going on to uncover the others involved in it which may lead to more arrests.
The whole exercise was closely monitored by SSP Component Jammu, SSP-Sandeep Mehta , SSP Samba-Koushal Kumar and over all supervision by Dr. SD Singh-IGP Jammu Zone, Jammu.
Meanwhile, Gandhi Nagar police arrested one drug peddler and recovered 3 Kgs of charas worth Rs 3 lacs
Police spokesman said that today police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established naka at A/D Block Gandhi Nagar for checking/frisking of vehicles and when the police party was checking/ frisking the vehicles one pedestrian who carrying a Red colour bag while coming towards naka on seeing police party tried to escape in suspicious circumstances but the Incharge naka assisted by other officials chased/ caught hold of him.
During questioning he disclosed his name as Amjad Hussain of Kishtwar and on checking/ frisking 3 Kgs of Charas was recovered from the bag and accordingly a case under FIR No. 250/2018 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia SHO-Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Subash Chander of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South-Dr. Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP City South-Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu-Vivek Gupta
