PDD hangs electric wires on trees instead of poles

Mendhar, Nov 16: The electric wires hanging on trees in Danashasteer area of Kalaban of Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district pose a serious threat to the local residents of the area.
Residents of Danashaateer of Kalaban said that at many places high and low voltage electric wires are hanging on the trees pose a threat to the residents, it shows the callous attitude of the power development department (PDD) on the ground. They said most of the wooden poles installed in the area decades ago were damaged and instead of installing new cement or iron poles, PDD officials choose to hang wires on trees.
Social Worker Ajaz Kohali said that they approached PDD officials many times to install iron or cement poles in the area, but they don't pay any heed to our demands, he said, " We regularly pay electric tariff bills, but PDD is not adhering to government announced power schedule in the area.
