Udhampur, Nov 16: While the State BJP is trying its level best to make the return of MLA Udhampur, Pawan Gupta into the party folds, the Udhampur unit of the party is not happy with the move.
Insiders of Udhampur unit of the party informed that party not approach to Gupta. When contacted State BJP Chief Ravinder Raina said that Gupta is their own man and due to some issues he contested as an independent candidate and won the Assembly elections and now the time is ripe that the party should display unity and bring back all the dissent leaders.
It is pertinent to mention that the political development came in the wake of elections to the Municipal Council President and Vice President for which there is a triangular contest between Gupta, BJP and Panthers Party. BJP wants to get the coveted posts and in that pursuit it is trying to lure Gupta while Panthers are also trying their level best for that.
There are total 21 Councilors in Udhampur Municipality of which 9 are independents, BJP has 4, Panthers have 6 and Congress has 2. For the post of President and Vice President one has to get at least support of 11 Councilors.
While Independent councilor Dr. Jogeshwari Gupta (brother of Pawan Gupta) filed the nomination form for the post of president and secret vote costing will Monday for the president and Vice President. |
