NC-Congress candidates win President, Vice President posts of Kishtwar Municipality
BJP voted in favor of PDP backed candidate

Kishtwar, Nov 16: Keeping its previous relationship alive, the lone BJP candidate in 13 members Kishtwar Municipal Committee had voted for the PDP backed candidate Sajjad Ahmed Najjar for the post of President, but that too didn't help the PDP to take over the control of Kishtwar Municipality since NC-Congress combine easily won both President & Vice President Posts of Kishtwar Municipality by securing 9 votes each out of the 13.
As per the detail available with "Early Times", the polling for electing the President & Vice President of Municipal Committee Kishtwar was today held at Kishtwar Municipality under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pawan Kumar Parihar who was nominated by DC Kishtwar as presiding officer-the move which has not gone well with some councilors since concerned DC of other Districts had presided over the voting proceedings in other Districts of the state.
As per the results announced by the ADC Kishtwar, Congress-NC backed candidate Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo managed to get 9 votes while PDP backed candidate Rafia Begum managed to get 3 votes while one vote believed to be that of BJP candidate was rejected. Similarly Raiz Ahmed Zarger, former ADDC Kishtwar won the battle for the post of President by defeating PDP backed Sajjad Ahmed Najjar who manage to secure four votes which include the vote of lone BJP candidate.
Speaking on this occasion, newly elected President Raiz Ahmed Zarger thanks the ward members as well as the people of Kishtwar for their overwhelming support and assured them that he will leave no stone un-turn to work towards development of Kishtwar Municipality.
Newly elected Vice President Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo said that Congress entered in Kishtwar Municipality after nearly 40 years and attributed the same to hard work and dedication of the party workers beside to those who played its role in strengthening the Congress party in Kishtwar District.
Reacting to the development with regard to voting of BJP candidate in favor of PDP backed President candidate, senior NC leader Imtiyaz Ahmed Zarger said that the party firmly believe that both PDP & BJP are in nexus with each other added that both parties are befooling the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that after joining of some Independent candidates into National Conference, they shall work towards strengthening the secular forces in Kishtwar District to keep the communal forces at bay.
He said that despite having the requisite number NC decided to join hands with Congress so that a strong massage could be delivered to the people that his party is interested in moving forwarded towards the new era of development with secular forces. He said that party is committed for the welfare and development of Kishtwar town and assured all possible help to newly elected President & Vice President.
