SRINAGAR, Nov 16: For the Phase-V of Panchayat Polls, 1209 candidates are in the fray for 541 Sarpanch Halqas and 4723 candidates for 4297 Panch wards across the State after scrutiny of nominations. Voting and counting for Phase-V of Panchayat Polls-2018 is scheduled be held on 29 November 2018.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shaleen Kabra, for Phase-V, 140 candidates are in the fray for 68 Sarpanch Halqas and 467 candidates for 582 Panch wards in district Kupwara; 27 candidates for 20 Sarpanch Halqas and 86 for 146 Panch wards in district Bandipora; 45 candidates for 45 Sarpanch Halqas and 126 for 395 Panch Halqas in district Baramulla; 26 candidates for 9 Sarpanch Halqas and 63 for 71 Panch wards in district Ganderbal; 30 candidates for 35 Sarpanch Halqas and 106 for 303 Panch wards in district Budgam; 18 candidates for 37 Sarpanch Halqas and 44 for 291 Panch wards in district Pulwama; 2 candidates for 14 Sarpanch Halqas and 14 for 104 Panch wards in district Shopian; 2 candidates for 25 Sarpanch Halqas and 10 for 185 Panch wards in district Kulgam; 41 candidates for 61 Sarpanch Halqas and 90 for 457 Panch wards in district Anantnag; 136 candidates for 36 Sarpanch Halqas and 538 for 258 Panch wards in district Doda; 71 candidates for 18 Sarpanch Halqas and 277 for 134 Panch wards in district Ramban; 184 candidates for 43 Sarpanch Halqas and 764 for 325 Panch wards in district Udhampur; 94 candidates for 23 Sarpanch Halqas and 399 for 183 Panch wards in district Reasi; 175 candidates for 48 Sarpanch Halqas and 833 for 374 Panch wards in district Jammu; 159 candidates for 40 Sarpanch Halqas and 609 for 330 Panch wards in district Rajouri and 59 candidates for 19 Sarpanch Halqas and 297 for 159 Panch wards in district Poonch. According to the CEO, for Phase-I of the Panchayat Polls, 427 candidates are in the fray for 536 Sarpanch Halqas and 5951 candidates for 4048 Panch Wards in the State for which voting and counting is scheduled to be held on 17 November 2018.
For Phase-II, 1038 candidates are in the fray for 468 Sarpanch Halqas and 4165 candidates for 3610 Panch wards for which voting and counting is scheduled be held on 20 November 2018.
For Phase-III, 1371 candidates are in the fray for 553 Sarpanch Halqas and 5426 candidates for 4279 Panch wards across the State for which voting and counting is scheduled be held on 24 November 2018.
And for Phase-IV of Panchayat Polls, 1382 candidates are in the fray for 531 Sarpanch Halqas and 5201 candidates for 4140 Panch wards across the State. Voting and counting for Phase-IV of Panchayat Polls-2018 is scheduled be held on 27 November 2018.
