Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 19: A music concert was organised by SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) at the Sainik School Nagrota auditorium.
Sarod Maestro Pandit Dr Rajeeb Chakraborty, a celebrated musician, an educationist and a music composer and conductor accompanied by President's awardee Debjit Patitundi on tabla enchanted the gathering with their prowess in instrumental music.
The duo's versatile indulgence of taal and laya took the audience through the unseen realms of mesmerising music which was a never-before experience for the cadets of the school. Following an hour of spell binding performance by these distinguished musicians, an inter-active session was held with the SPIC MACAY artists wherein cadets got their numerous queries about the intricacies of music, musical instruments and different facets of Classical music answered. With this performance, an eight-day circuit curated especially for the kendriya Vidyalayas concluded with eleven concerts overall. These concerts were held at KV Sunjuwan, KV Domana, KV Lakhanpur, KV Kathua, KV Hiranagar, KV Samba, KV Jindrah, KV1 Udhampur, KV2 Udhampur and KV Kishtwar. Expressing deep appreciation for the performance, Capt (IN) A Muthuraman honoured the guest artists by presenting bouquets and hailed the role of SPIC MACAY in spreading awareness about Indian cultural heritage by promoting Classical music and other indigenous art forms. J&K State Chairperson of SPIC MACAY Dr. Sapna K Sangra and Coordinator Jammu, Dr. Seema Rohmetra were also present on this occasion.
