Gang war foiled, two notorious criminals held with country made revolvers, live rounds

Jammu, Nov 20: Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have foiled a major gang war with the arrest of two notorious criminals along with country made revolvers and live cartridges. Police spokesman said that a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station raised a naka at Shamshan Ghat Chowk Shastri Nagar Jammu for checking/ frisking of vehicles and intercepted a Wagon-R car bearing Registration Number PB35W-8288. The driver of the car during questioning disclosed his name as Raghubir Singh alias Dana of Chorli Bishnah Jammu and on his checking/frisking one country made revolver along with three live cartridges was recovered from his possession.
While on the checking/ frisking of his other associate who during questioning disclosed his name as Harmeet Singh alias Shanu alias Mama of Resham Ghar Colony Jammu presently staying at Digiana Jammu, one Country made revolver along with three live cartridges was recovered from his possession.
With the arrest of these two notorious criminals, Gandhi Nagar police foiled a gang war as the arrested accused are notorious criminals and a number of cases of attempt to murder, stabbing and keeping/possession of illegal arms etc. have been registered against them in different police stations of district Jammu. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Raghubir Singh alias Dana is involved in about dozen cases and is also an absconder of Bari Brahmana, Bishnah, Samba and Vijaypur police stations. Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 261/2018 under section 3/25 Arms Act was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia-SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Sandeep Chauhan, SI Rohit Bhagat of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South-Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP City South-Vinay Kumar, and SSP Jammu- Vivek Gupta.
