| Illegal paragliding threaten public life in Reasi, admin sleeps | | | Early Times Report
reaSI, Nov 20: The famous adventure sport of paragliding is being hosted "illegally" in the hills of Thanyuia here thereby jeopardizing lives of the locals and tourists alike.
The locals said for the past around two months, the paragliding is being held in area where "topography is misfit for the adventure sports."
"Paragliding can be held in area where you have a plain surface below whereas here its dense forests," said an expert.
Sources said the agency which is offering paragliding has not been granted proper permission by the government to host such a sporting event.
Officials said it was "criminal negligence on the part of the administration to allow such a deadly adventure without proper permission and inspection of the security standards."
Official sources said the Tourism department in league with the district administration had gone for an "underhand deal with the para gliding agency to allow the adventure sports."
"This is height of corruption in the state that life of tourists and other visitors is being pushed to risk, through holding of such sports activities, where proper safety standards are not being maintained," said an official in know of the matter.
Pleading anonymity he said "Ideally speaking the police should file an FIR against the Tourism department."
When contacted a senior official of the Tourism department feigned ignorance about the paragliding. "I don't know anything about the issue." |
