| Rural masses deprived of basic facilities | | Digital India proves hallow slogan | | Mohammad Sarfaraz

BANDIPORA, Nov 24: Despite tall claims of the GOI about Digital India, there are scores of villages in northern region which claim that the slogans are hallow, as they are actually deprived of basic facilities.
According to sources, the concept of Digital India seems to be good in books only as dozens of villages hardly get electricity for few hours in a day, even the areas falling in Gurez will be freezing in the coming months due to harsh winters.
Sources said that scores of villages like Buduab, Dangithal, Jurniyal, Shahpora, Zadigi, Dawar, Buglindar, Niru, Wazirithal, Markoot face a lot of problems during harsh winters.
People living near the borders areas are facing tremendous problems during these six months; the administration is hardly seen active, as the road remains cut off due to heavy snowfall, sources lamented.
They said that, most of the villages have not been yet connected to the national power grid even though the 330 megawatt Kishanganga power projected is being constructed and some of it has been completed but the people gets unscheduled power cuts, and people burn charcoal and other fuels to keep the things ready.
The rural people in these remote areas of Gurez valley have been facing immense health related problems as most of the doctors including technical staff, nurses, and other Para-medical staff remains on and off in various health centers, and many centers lack manpower and with the result whole system gets affected during winter months, sources informed.
The Governor administration should fulfill the demands of the people who are living in these frontier places, one would understand that step motherly treatment is being given to the people and no one cares for them.
Irony is that, the people of these remote areas have been left on the mercy of God, and the government is making tall claims of digital India, instead they should make it possible on ground. |
