Kishtwar witnesses massive 85.24% polling in Phase -III

Kishtwar, Nov 24: Kishtwar District continue to witness massive polling in both Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections and in Phase -III of Panchayat elections today, voting started in early morning at 8:00am in four blocks of Kishtwar Viz Inderwal, Drabshalla, Nagseni and Mughalmaidan and concluded peacefully under fool proof security arrangements with a voter turn out of 85.24 %. in which 50933 voters cast their votes with 26416 Male and 24517 female voters exercises there franchise.
As per official statement,, anverwhelming 85.24% electors exercised their franchise in four blocks with 82.60% in Drabshalla, 85.60% in Inderwal, 86.64% in Mughal Maidan and 87.55% in Nagseni Block of District Kishtwar.
The massive voting remarked that great enthusiasm and marvellous response shown by rural poor signifies a positive sign towards strengthening of PRIs at grass root levels despite recent political killings in Kishtwar.
All this will open new vistas and an amplitude of opportunities for the rural poor particularly down trodden sections of society i,e SC's, ST's and women to participate on full fledged basis in the development process and will fulfill the basic objective of Panchayati Raj System. In III- Phase, 173 Sarpanches and 677 Panches are in fray while the counting process is underway.
