| CWA hails LMD for fixing auto fares as per meter | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 24: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) in its meeting under the chairmanship of Er S K Gupta, today welcomed the action taken by Legal Metrology Department (LMD) in fixing the fare of auto rickshaws at the rate of Rs 33 for first two kms and Rs 14 for the subsequent kms.
It has also been decided that payment should be made by the commuters only as per the meter which the auto driver must use.
This demand of the CWA had been pending with the authorities since long as the auto rickshaw drivers have been charging rates as per their own dictates. CWA desires that this order should be implemented in letter and spirit and LMD must ensure that a copy of this order is displayed in each and every autorikshaw for the convenience of the commuters. LMD has intimated a toll free No:-18001807015 for complaint against the erring drivers.
CWA now wishes that LMD takes similar decision in fixing and publicizing rate lists for taxies in Jammu, for short distance as well as long distance for the convenience of public. |
