| FOETS calls on Advisor Sharma, highlights issues of PDD employees | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 5: The Forum of Engineers and Tech Staff (FOETS) comprising engineers and feeder managers of different wings of Electrical, Civil as well as Mechanical today called on KK Sharma, Advisor to Governor under the leadership of Er Sachin Tickoo, Convenor Forum of Engineers, J&K.
Advisor to Governor KK Sharma, seeking immediate time bound reddressal of the basic issues of the employees of PDD.
The engineers had threadbare discussions on the issues of the Junior Engineer cadre. The delegation apprised the Advisor that Junior Engineer cadre though being the backbone of the engineering services has been given step motherly treatment at the hands of the Finance department. The successive pay commissions have degraded the Grade of Junior Engineers instead of coming up with a assured career progression scheme for this cadre ,has even created further anomalies which have been pending for mere clarifications since last 9 years with the Finance department.
Er Sachin Tickoo ,Convenor spoke that the Junior Engineers are paid a meager Rs 30 per month as Field Travel Allowance for carrying out all inspections, maintenance and upkeep and attending to breakdowns.
Since the nature of duties of Junior Engineer is such that he has to be present in the field 24x7, 365 days without any holiday. Despite clear nature of duties, the increase of the Field Travel Allowance from current Rs 30 level to at least Rs 3000 per month is an immediate measure to mitigate the expenses of the travelling in the field and sought the same to be taken up with the finance department, the delegation said. |
