Kishtwar Police bust espionage racket, ISI agent arrested

Jammu, Dec 7: In a major crackdown on Over Ground Terror network being run from across the Border by the ISI, Kishtwar police claimed to have arrested a person namely Sehran Sheikh (24 yrs) alias Abu Zubair S/O Ghulam Abbas Sheikh R/O Malipeth Kishtwar allegedly working as an enemy agent, who was gathering information on the establishments of J&K Police, Armed Forces and Army deployment within District Kishtwar.
Police said that the accused had come in contact with banned Pakistani Militant outfit Harkat-Ul-Mujahideen organization operating across the border and that he was gathering information on Police, Armed Forces and security establishments for terrorist attacks.
"There were inputs that banned organization were using this enemy agent to carryout terror attacks on Belt Forces in the District" said the police.
While divulging the details, SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta said that the accused after making the videos of key military and civilian installation including Chenani-Nashri Tunnel had transferred the same on the mobile numbers of Pak handlers across the border through social media networking.
He said that police found several videos and other incriminating material from the mobile and that his mobile was being scrutinized to find more data and modus operandi with regard to functioning of the terror module.
Police is also probing the involvement of any other persons in the case.
"This guy confessed his involvement and with his arrest, Police has averted a major terror attack from ISI agent and pak based terror organization in the District" the SSP said.
Meanwhile the sources said that the arrest came nearly six month after Kishtwar police developed specific intelligence inputs received regarding him.
His father Mohammad Abbas Sheikh however termed the police allegations as baseless and demanded release of his son. He said that his son was mentally unstable and called upon the police to not harrass him anymore.
