Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 7: Despite imposition of ban by the State Government for not issuing any fresh arms licenses, yet thousands of licenses are being issued from various districts of the Kashmir region rampantly.
Sources told Early Times that the nexus between the gun licenses agents and revenue officials of the various districts of the Kashmir are working day and night in executing this misdeed. Licenses are being issued by the authorities concerned without entering them online.
"As per recent reports, there are four districts from Kashmir region from where around six thousands of arms licenses were issued in back date from the date of ban imposed by the government recently without including them online. As per Arms Law Act, applications for seeking gun licenses have to be applied through online and the applicants have to be presented themselves in the office. The manual applications are not acceptable yet the rules are being totally ignored," they said.
The nexus is very much active in various districts of the State. The agents contact the in-service and retired army personnel of other States and take heavy amount in lieu of arms licenses. "They collect their documents, who, were never posted in the State and make their licenses with the nexus of revenue officials and no record in updated online.
Although an Anti Terrorism Squad of Rajasthan had succeeded to arrest an infamous gun licenses agent namely Rahul Grover from Jammu, who used to make licenses with nexus spread in many districts of the State yet the nexus is being run by the hundreds of such agents who are making arms licenses in connivance of corrupt officials rampantly and government failed to keep check on this mal practice, they said further adding that lakhs of rupees are given to head of the department for issuance of the licenses by these agents.
