Mehbooba forgets her toffee remark, sheds crocodile tears over killings'

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17: Former Chief Minister and the President of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti misses no opportunity to castigate the Governor's administration in Jammu and Kashmir.
"How long are we going to shoulder the coffins of our youngsters? So many civilians killed today post encounter in Pulwama. No country can win a war by killing its own people. I strongly condemn these killings," Mehbooba Mufti had said soon after the seven civilians were killed near the encounter site at Sirnoo Pulwama in south Kashmir on Saturday.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "When Mehbooba was heading the state in 2016 and protesters were killed in the security forces firing she hit out at the people stating that do they send their children to Army camps to buy toffees and fetch milk?."
He said that after losing power she has forgotten the explanations she used to provide for the civilian killings. "There is no denial to the fact that no country can win a war by killing its own people but the leadership needs to tell the people that going near the encounter sites is as good as committing a suicide. Instead of telling people the truth leaders like Mehbooba Mufti are shedding crocodile tears over such killings and are trying to project themselves as the Messiahs of Kashmiris," the analyst added.
A Kashmir watcher said that the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is trying to play a "victim card" and is trying to make the people believe that she had no role in managing the affairs of the state as everything was managed by New Delhi. "It looks like that Mehbooba believes that memory of the people is short lived and they have forgotten how she messed up the state," he added.
A defence analyst said, "Erstwhile Mehbooba Mufti led government provided a chance to militants, separatist and the elements inimical to peace to brainwash the youth and push them on the path of violence. She during her tenure did not pay any attention towards youth going astray and gave free hand to her party leaders to accommodate their own workers. The youth were left in lurch. It's an open secret that entire selection list of the J&K Bank was changed to favour the candidates who were recommended by the PDP leaders."
He said, "Had Mehbooba acted responsibly during her tenure Kashmir would not have been in mess today. She needs to sit back and introspect how she mismanaged the entire show."
