After cutting wings of PDP in Kmr NC trying to erode base of BJP, Cong in Jammu

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 22: National Conference (NC) is all set to erode the base of BJP in Jammu by wooing the weaker sections of society to join the party.
According to source NC leadership after getting emboldened in denting it's arch rival PDP in Kashmir which has disintegrated totally after many of it's senior leaders and former ministers deserted it by joining People's Conference of Sajjad Lone and National Conference led by Dr Farooq Abdullah, N C is eyeing Jammu and influencing leaders of weaker sections to join it's fold to decrease BJP's chances of emerging as a force in next Assembly poll.
Sources said some leaders of BJP and Congress who already joined the party in Jammu has boosted the morale of NC Jammu leadership who want to check the influence of BJP and RSS in the region.
Sources said NC is approaching more leaders of BJP belonging to weaker sections including some disgruntled legislators to join the party to cut the vote base of party in Jammu region.
Sources said NC leadership is trying to erode the base of both Congress and BJP in Jammu and PDP in Kashmir to cross the magic figure of 44 in next Assembly elections to form the Government on it's own in the State by repeating the trend of 1996 Assembly poll.
However in comparison to it BJP which lacks proper leadership in the State is not able to checkmate the NC and stop it from making in roads in it's strong bastions in Jammu. Even Congress which is also banking on Jammu and Ladakh regions has not shown any interest in strengthening it's base in this region.
Sources said in case NC succeeds it's game plan in winning out the support of weaker sections in Jammu plains and majority community in hilly belt of Doda and Poonch Rajouri it can give a great setback to both BJP and Congress in this region which the two nationalist parties consider their main support base.
Sources said unfortunately BJP leaders who make only noise are unable to see through the NC's game plan who in 2002 Assembly poll had also tried to make inroads in Jammu to tilt the balance in it's favour lost the game only after it's senior leaders from Kashmir committed a blunder while addressing a election rally in Samba saying his party forced Mahraja to quit State.
This proved costly for party and NC lost many seats in Jammu in that election too on which it had edge over it's rivals.
