District Hospital faces water shortage

Poonch, Dec 23: Public Health Engineering Department have been blamed for its failure to supply the water to district hospital Poonch regularly where for the last four days patients and their attendants have gone through embarrassing situation due to non availability of water, sources said here today. Lambasting the hospital authorities and health department for their pathetic approach the patients and their attendants staged a protest demonstration in hospital premises who were purchasing water from the market for drinking purposes.
Alleging the lackadaisical attitude of the hospital administration they said a hospital without water for days together means invitation to new ailments as wash rooms and bathrooms have got choked where as in wards the patients in general and surgical cases in particular were free to several infections, they maintained. They also levelled allegations on medicos of the hospital who spend most of their duty hours at their quarters where they examine the patients who pay them hefty amount as consultation fee leaving the hospital patients in lurch who even do not get even a single tablet from the quota of free medicines meant far the poor in the hospital. While talking to Early Times Chief Medical Officer Dr Mumtaz Bhatti said that there have been a technical snag in motor due to which delay has been caused adding we have made arrangements and the water is being supplied by hiring the water tanks for the hospital and water crisis will be solved soon, he added. We have also started work on Bore well for the hospital to end the water crisis for good, the CMO further added.
