GDC Thannamandi celebrates National Mathematics Day

Jammu, Dec 22: In connection with National Mathematics Day Celebrations, Government Degree College Thannamandi organized an Inter-Institution seminar on Mathematics, in which students from ten High and Higher Secondary Schools of Subdivision Thannamandi participated and delivered their presentations on various topics of Mathematics.
Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmad Raina presided over the function, in the seminar the first position was bagged by Sidra Khatoon from Keralite Higher Sec. School Thannamandi, while the second and third positions went to Taskeen Farhat of Little Angels Higher Secondry School, Rajhdhani and Eshrat Mehak from Govt. Higher Sec. School, Plangarh. A power point presentation on life and contribution of Srinivas Ramanujan, prepared by Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmad Raina was also shown during the seminar. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shahida Bano, Asstt. Professor Kashmiri also presented a moral lecture and emphasis on continued efforts to organize such functions for the betterment of the students. She laid emphasis on the need for bringing out the talent in school and college students, and pointed out that students should take up Mathematics as main subject. She also highlighted the contributions of the son of soil and great mathematician of Pir panjal and highlighted the endeavors of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmad Raina in providing a platform to the students of schools of nearby areas to express their views.
