ACB produces challan against JE in graft case

Jammu, Dec 31: Anti-corruption Bureau Jammu has produced Challan against the then Junior Engineer (JE) of Rural Development Department, Block Moungri, Udhampur in graft case.
Challan was produced against the then Junior Engineer (JE) namely Sunil Gupta of Ward No.17 Shankar Nagar, Salain Talab Tehsil & District Udhampur, the then JE in Rural Development Department (REW) Block Moungri Distt. Udhampur before the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Udhampur in a case under FIR No.18/2017 at police station VOJ (Now ACB Jammu) under section 5 (1) (d) read with section 5 (2) J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and Sec.4-A PC Act (Amendment 2014).
On 13-05-2017 a written complaint was lodged by one Pyar Singh of Village Prand, Tehsil Moungri District Udhampur alleging there in that he had worked as facilitator nominated by Gram Sewak Block Moungri for execution of work from November 2016 to December 2016 at Prand Tehsil Moungri District Udhampur. The complainant alleged that the accused JE Sunil Gupta demanded an amount of Rs. 55000 from him for release of payment on account of execution of the work done by him. Out of the demanded amount, Rs.20000 had already been paid by him to the accused JE Sunil Gupta besides Rs. 10000 through his son Anil Singh.
The complainant mentioned in the complaint that he was going to pay the remaining amount of Rs. 25000 as bribe to the said JE through his son Anil Singh under compelling circumstances and requested that legal action be taken against the said JE.
On receipt of the said complaint a successful trap was laid against the accused, JE Sunil Gupta and he was apprehended/arrested red handed by the officials Vigilance (Now ACB) while demanding the illegal gratification of Rs.25000 from the complainant and acceptance of the said bribe amount through Anil Singh son of the complainant.
