Broken water pipes leave Rssain residents thirsty

UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: Broken water supply pipes in Rssain area of Ramnagar are leaving the people thirsty. A visit by this reporter confirmed that complaint of the locals in this regard was true while at the same time concerned authorities have yet not taken any cognizance of this.
"We are facing acute drinking water crisis and out cattle are also suffering because of this," Raju of village Rssain informed. Poli Devi-62, a housewife said that ladies of the village have to travel three kilometers to fetch pot of drinking water for their families. Many other people too narrated similar tales. Surjit Kumar-a local leader said that many times they visited office of Public Health Engineering department with complaint in this regard but none bothered to look into the matter. Kumar also said that he had many times informed the concerned officials that the pipes are broken at many places and water gets wasted due to this and not reaches the villagers. The locals have appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to instruct the concerned officers to take cognizance of the problem so that they may get water supply at their village.
