Doctors' Kins adjusted in Pathology Deptt
Favouritism goes unabated in GMC Jammu

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 31: The head of the Government Medical College Jammu, allegedly adjusted the kin of an influential doctors in Pathology department of GMC Jammu under the Governor rule by converting seats from 'Reserved Pool' for the non-clinical department.
Pertinently, the GMC Jammu is always known to favour blue-eyed, be it faculty members, registrars, demonstrators or even paramedics and nursing staff and these blue-eyed are usually ones who are either politically connected or favourites of a weak administration.
Such things have some degree of sense during political government when politicians encourage these things for some political mileage but during Governor's rule that is invariably known for administrative efficiencies without political mileage; if such things happen it raises eyebrows and doubts against otherwise efficient and non-corrupt governors rule.
The recent example of such favoritism was unearthed by the correspondent when senior doctors' Kins were accommodated as demonstrators in pathology department in a recently declared selection list allegedly.
According to sources, the vide PMC Order No: GMC/ES-1/1581-A dated 8-01-19; 07 demonstrators have been selected in Pathology department of the GMC Jammu (4 PSC confirmed and 3 Non-PSC). If sources are to be believed, initially there were only 3 posts of demonstrators available in the same department at the time of interviews but the institutional head, under the influence of senior doctors and just to secure vested interest, selected 7 candidates including daughters of both these bigwigs.
"A PMC went up to the extent of converting 3 posts of Registrars from 'Reserved Pool' that are technical posts and should be converted from clinical pool to clinical pool only in extraordinary circumstance especially in clinical exigencies. But PMC preferred to convert them for kin of these bigwigs for her personal gains especially from them, "Sources of Health and Medical Education Department told Early Times.
"PMC is involved in many complaints of financial irregularities as well as favoritism to few by tampering marks sheets in the past and also Vigilance cases. As the institutional head is trapped in these irregularities and the person wants favour by giving special advantage to the influential, "sources alleged.
Sources added that in Governor Rule who will stop such irregularities and favouritism that invites criticism from all corners. Will the Advisor H&ME and Governor wake up and get the mess cleaned in this premier institution which is fast losing its image of one of the best GMC Jammu.
