SIC allows inspection of works executed by RDD in Mendhar block

Jammu, Feb 18: State Information Commission (SIC) has directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) Mendhar district Poonch to allow inspection of documents / records by an information seeker pertaining to works executed under various schemes in the block. The information seeker was denied the information which promoted him to file an appeal before SIC.
Details available with Early Times reveal that an RTI application dated: 28.03.2018 was filed by one Ziarat Hussain Shah R/O Gursai block Mendhar district Poonch seeking information from BDO, Mendhar with respect to works executed under various schemes for the last 10 years. The PIO (BDO) informed information seeker that since he sought huge information, therefore, he should have inspection of records instead of seeking copies. Not satisfied, Zirat Hussain Shah filed First Appeal on 26.05.2018 with the First Appellate Authority (FAA) / ACD Poonch. Subsequently, the appellant filed 2nd Appeal before State Information Commission (SIC) on 11.10.2018 that was admitted on 16.10.2018
The PIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, BDO, Mendhar submitted that the appellant had sought huge information and, therefore, he was requested to visit his office on any working day for having inspection of records.
The appellant submitted before the Commission that he visited the office of BDO/ PIO on 27.12.2018 but the officer was not present and the dealing assistant did not facilitate the inspection of records.
SIC fixed date of 16th February, 2019, for the inspection of records.
