4-yrs on, babus, cops in J&K yet to hear PM Modi's clarion call of Achay Din
IAF Pilot's speedy release reminds people of Achay Din promise

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 3: When Prime Minister Narender Modi assumed office of the Prime Minister five years ago, he promised Achay Din (Good Days) to people of India. The people dreamed of a fair and free administration and expected immediate redressal of grievances. However, no change was felt on the ground.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that "bureaucrats and police officers in Jammu and Kashmir ignored the PM Modi's clarion call for Achay-Din in the state. They continue to act like monarchs and seem to believe that they can do anything."
The tweets posted in lighter vein reflect the rot in the system. And amid celebrations of Abhinandan's release, there are people who point out the flaws in the system. Yes, a widow is made to move from pillar to post for getting her monthly pension released; it takes months to get the entries of a ration card corrected. When will it change? When will the government take the peoples' issues as seriously as it took the issue of IAF pilot's release? When will the Achay Din reach J&K?
Prime Minister acted fast last week and secured release of the IAF Pilot Abhinandan in just two days. He won acclaim from the nation for his `prompt' action but Indian wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat's sister Ritu tweeted about the important development which cheered the nation. The tweet reads: Jitni Jaldi Modiji nay commander Abhinanandan ko Pakistan se riha karwaya, utni jaldi to thane se motorcycle bhi nahi choot ti." (PM Modi got Abhinandan released quicker than it takes to get an impounded bike back from the police station).
"Her tweet conveyed the feelings of entire nation as everyone knows that whenever a common man approaches the police with a complaint he or she is treated shabbily. And if the bike or a car gets seized by the police it takes a pretty longtime to get it released. On many occasions even the complaints are not registered," said an observer.
