| GCPF holds meeting on forthcoming elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: Meeting of the General Category People's Forum Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman discussing the forthcoming elections of Lok Sabha. Banathia expressed great concern about the way general category people are being marginalized and ignored socially,, economically and politically by State and Centre governments.
Banathia said that all political parties made tall claims and promises at the time of elections to the general category people to ensure 'Sab Ka Vikas "but all the promises were futile. He accused political leadership of the country of playing with the emotions of people by raking up the issue of caste based reservations before elections for their political gains at the cost of the fundamental principles of equality, justice, liberty and dignity.
Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Forum said that caste-based reservations and special concessions are privileges are unlawful acts against the value of social fabric of nation. He added that the Forum will oppose the political parties which have been advocating and promoting the cynical minorities' communalism, pseudo-secularism and appeasement policies since 1950 and harmed the interest of general category people.
Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary, said that Forum would extend its support to the party which would ensure correction of the injustice pertaining to the marginalization and discrimination with the people through caste based reservation. He demanded that political parties must speak about, equality and equal opportunities and said that General Category people have never got what was their legitimate due in socioeconomic and political process.
Deepak Khajuria, Bhushan Pargal, Vivek Kumar and Kuldeep Verma expressed their views and demanded stipend for employed youth, free health care facilities for senior citizens and enhancement of medical allowance from Rs. 300/- to Rs. 3000/-PM for employees and pensioners.
Forum warned all political parties against the exploitation of people on caste and religion and demanded total abolition of reservation and political reservation under article 330 and 332. |
