Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 20: Already under severe criticism for unabated corruption and nepotism in Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, the Director General, Rural Development Department Jammu, sent a letter through speed post to an information seeker a day before the scheduled hearing for the first appeal, under J&K RTI Act.
The information seeker told Early Times that he was shocked when received the letter three days after scheduled hearing. "I received the letter from Kalakote post on March 12", the information seeker said and added that however, letter was dated 05/03/2019.
"In continuation to this office letter no DRDJ/RTI/94/2018-19/39748-50, dated 06/02/2019 regarding subject cited above, you are herby again intimated to attend this office of 09/03/2019 at 12.00 noon before the First Appellate Authority (Director General Rural Development Jammu), Gramin Vikas Bhawan Talab Tiloo Jammu for hearing of appeal", letter no DRDJ/RTI-Appeal/2018-19/94/41751, dated 05/03/2019 issued by BDO HQ Angel Kotwal, RDD Jammu read.
"The Directorate had in past also manipulated hearing by using same tactics, but this time checked entire delivery process of speed post on line, I was shocked when I came to know that as per record available in India Post portal, the consignment reached at Kalakote on 10th of March (Sunday) the letter delivered on 11 March, 2019 to me", the information seeker who also provided consignment track number this news paper, said in past the directorate has played same trick to escape accountability.
