General Elections: Observer reviews poll preparedness

UDHAMPUR, Mar 30: Police Observer for 60-Udhampur, 61-Chenani, and 62-Ramnagar assembly segments, Ravi S, today convened a meeting to review the election preparedness for General Election-2019 at DC Office Complex here today.
District Election Officer, Dr. Piyush Singla gave a detailed briefing on account of election preparedness and informed that all the arrangements are in place to ensure free and fair elections. He said the arrangements like Single Window System for granting permission for public rallies, monitoring Model Code of Conduct, vigilance on expenditure by political parties and candidates, paid news, Flying squad, C-VIGIL App, SVEEP activities have been put in place. He further informed that different committees have been constituted to check the implementation of Model Code of Conduct in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur also briefed the Observer about the security plan like Protection of NHW, Security arrangements, deployment of police personnel, status of polling stations, requirement of manpower, proposed deployment plan, vulnerability mapping and critical polling stations, preventive actions after imposition of MCC etc.
The Police Observer directed the AROs and Nodal Officers to perform their duties with utmost dedication and zeal and stressed for close coordination so that the elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner in the district.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner Ashok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gurvinderjeet Singh, besides AROs were present in the meeting.
