Former Judge who joined NC, booked for inciting violence

ANANTNAG, Mar 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police has booked former Sessions Judge Anantnag for inciting violence against Forest Department while addressing a rally in Kokernag area of district. FIR No. 7/19 U/S 116, 506, 153 RPC against the former sessions Judge Anantnag Syed Tawqeer has been registered at Police Station Larnoo, Early Times learnt from reliable police sources today. SSP Anantnag, Mohammad Altaf Khan also confirmed to ET that FIR for inciting violence has been registered against former Sessions Judge. Former Judge Syed Tawqeer, Now a National Conference leader was caught on camera while inciting violence by provoking people against the forest department frontline staff. Early Times was first newspaper to report the ridiculous act of former Judge.
In a video clip, that went viral on social media sites including Facebook, former sessions Judge Anantnag Syed Tawqeer can be heard telling a group of locals in a Kokernag village 'to arms and limbs' of the forest department employees' if they denied access to forest.

Video went viral as it was shared widely by netizens on social networking sites. It angered citizens and concerned agencies. Forest Department on Saturday wrote to District Magistrate Anantnag and demanded action against the person for inciting violence. "Video clip depicting derogatory/threatening remarks against forest frontline staff. In this connection it is requested to verify to contents and take necessary action as per law," Conservator of Forests South Kashmir, South Circle Bijbehara wrote to District Magistrate on Sunday vide letter No. 2451-55 dated 29-03-2019 Important to recall, Former principal and sessions' Judge Syed Tauqeer of Kokernag joined Jammu Kashmir National Conference last week in Anantnag after opting for voluntary retirement. He was welcomed into party by Vice-President Omar Abdullah and other senior leaders.
