We didn’t allow BJP to remove Article 370, 35A: Mehbooba Mufti
4/17/2019 4:11:31 PM

Srinagar: Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and People’s Democratic Party’s President Mehbooba Mufti lashes out at Jammu and Kashmir Governor and Centre for increasing troubles for the common people. She also said that her party didn’t allow the BJP to remove Article 370 and 35A.

Talking to media persons in Shangus area of Anantnag district, Ms. Mufti said that India is using muscle power in the state by using government forces to assault people here.

“Yesterday, they thrashed a SDM along with his other employees, imprisoners are being thrashed inside the jails and highway has been stopped by for the civil traffic. These signs show that this is not the India to which Sheikh Abdullah and Maharaja Hari Singh had merged the state,” she said.

Ms. Mufti added that India has used harsh powers on common people in the state, which has resulted in fear among the people living in the state. It makes one think that “to which India I have shaken my hand,” Ms. Mufti questioned.

She further condemned the death of a cancer patient in middle of his journey on the highway after the ambulance was not allowed to move by the government forces due to two day ban on civilian traffic on the highway.

“Banning highway for civil traffic has affected the economy of locals here. By such decisions, I don’t understand what Governor and Government of India aims from this?” said Ms. Mufti.

She also said that during their two years’ alliance with BJP, their party never allowed BJP to remove Article 370 and 35A in the state. “I hired best lawyer for the safety of Article 370 and 35A and will protect it in future,” she said.
