| Residents of Ari Kasab allege use of substandard material in road construction | | |  Early Times Report
MENDHAR, May 14: Residents of Ari Kasab in Mendhar area of Poonch district alleged that PWD department Mendhar isn't executing the works on Ari to Kasab road as per norms.
"Department and contractor compromised on the quantity and quality of material being used in construction of road and protection bunds," they alleged. Social Worker Ishaq Gorsai a local expressed concern for allowing using use of boulders on stone-wall concrete capping. "The work of protection bunds which is physically completed were executed as per contractors will not as per departmental norms and sanctioned estimate," he said. He added that putting boulders in capping concrete over bund is totally illegal. Besides, construction is not as per estimate as width and height of the bund is less then what is shown in the sanctioned estimate. However, the residents said that they didn't spot any officer visiting the area.
They allege that not to talk of road, department is doing irregularities in construction of retaining walls which is mandatory and doubles the life of a road. Locals further appealed to the concerned authority for immediate action and to constitute an inquiry on the matter before the withdrawal of the bills. |
