Narwal Pain residents inform Munish about their woes
6/2/2019 11:55:42 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 2: The erratic power supply during peak summer season, acute water crisis and shortage of other amenities have made the lives of Narwal Pain residents miserable.
The Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, while carrying forward his mass contact programme in Narwal Pain and Satwari areas on Sunday met people from different walks of life.
Residents of Ward No. 1 and 2 told Munish that they are suffering in sweltering heat due to pesky power cuts but no one seems bothered.
Munish, who would be contesting forthcoming assembly elections as an Independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, projected his vision before the masses. During the meeting with locals, he was informed about several problems which they face in their day to day lives.
Vidya Devi, an elderly woman said that she is a refugee of 1947 and has lived a very difficult life. She said that she somehow managed to build a very small house near Police Station Satwari. "Despite tall promises made by the leaders I didn't get any help from the Government. A portion of my house was demolished by the Government and the front floor portion attached to the footpath was broken many times by the PHE department to lay their pipes. But they never repaired what they damaged," she added.
Meen Devi, expressed concern over erratic power, water supply. She said that water and electricity play hide and seek in summer season every year. "Our children have to study under street lights in this hot and humid weather," she added.
Mohammad Salim and Mohammad Asif of Ward No 2 of Narwal Pain, which comes under Cantonment area said that regular power fluctuation has made their life hell due to which their electrical appliances never work properly. "These fluctuations and overloading lead to breaking of power distribution wires posing threat to human lives," they said.
"During Ramzan month, the absence of power makes life difficult. It becomes hard for us to spend the day during his holy month. We want that at least during Ramzan, the electricity should not be curtailed," they added.
