Early Times Report

Rajouri, June 2: Taking cognizance of news about encroachment of State land by an Irrigation Department Patwari, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri directed the concerned Tehsildar to inspect the matter and asked to submit the report within days but the team sent by Tehsildar inspected the matter half heartedly and informed its senior telephonically.
Sources told Early Times that on the direction of DC Rajouri, the Tehsildar Sunderbani sent his team including Naib Tehsildar Katif Hussain and Patwari Mohd Asif to visit the spot at village Langer take first hand information of the matter.
The team was accompanied by the concerned Lambardar Krishan Lal and inspection of the State land under Khasra No 153 which was encroached by the Patwari in Irrigation Department Chaman Lal at village Langer. The revenue team found that half of the residential building was constructed on State land and the road has been illegally covered by the alleged Patwari but no demarcation was made which raised suspicion about the authenticity of the findings by the team. Moreover, the team informed the Tehsildar Sundebani telephonically about the report, they said.
They further said that the team also suggested constitution of commission for the demarcation of the land as per revenue records. Meanwhile the team ordered the Chaman Lal to open the road which has been captured by him but shockingly the alleged Patwari who was present on the spot out rightly denied to obey the order.
However, the team asked the locals to inform the Tehsildar office if the alleged Patwari fails to comply with the order and then office will issue a legal notice to the Patwari in the connection. Locals informed that Revenue Officials that whole house is illegal and should be dismantled. They also threaten to start agitation if the action was not taken, meanwhile they appealed to the DC to take strong action in the matter.
