Demand for restructuring Congress in J&K
6/6/2019 10:51:08 PM

Senior state Congress leaders are in favour of restructuring state Congress unit on the basis of its poor performance in the recent Lok Sabha poll. The state unit of the Congress had fielded in four of the six Lok Sabha constituencies but it was forced to draw blank. Even the state unit chief GA Mir too lost the battle. It is not anything new for the state Congress but on the National level it suffered reverses. Even the Congress president Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi seat to Smiriti Irani. That has been the plight of the Congress at the National level because of the magic of Modi. Had the NC carried Modi's magic it would not have bagged all the three seats in the Kashmir valley. But the Congress won all the three seats in the valley but It lost the two in Jammu and one in Ladakh regions. They grilled Ghulam Nabi Azad at another party function.
Some of the senior Congress leaders wanted complete restructuring of the party in Jammu and Kashmir in order to get absolute majority in the ensuing Assembly elections. Now that the Assembly elections cannot be held before July because the President’s rule has been extended. The President’s rule was extended because of the precarious incidence of violence. This can be measures by the killing of 101 militants and over losing of over 50 security personnel This itself indicates the level of violence in the Kashmir valley. It is also indicated that the executive body of the state Congress unit be changed along with the change in the president.
Well as far as G A Mir is concerned he is a staunch party worker and besides this he is honest. If Mir is replaced there is no alternative to him. And it is nice on the part the Congress to forge a pre-installed poll alliance with the NC and the party led by Dr Farooq Abdullah is going to win an absolute majority in the Assembly poll. Hence the Congress can share power if it forges pre-installed poll alliance. Farooq has drawn swords to measure tone with the BJP led NDA government on the BJP's plan to fiddle with Article 370 Article 35 A and people are ready to vote for NC if it is bound to retain these Articles. In the past the NC-Congress coalition Goverment has been a story of success. Why not to repeat it?
