Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 6: Directorate of School Education Kashmir has come in for sharp criticism as it suspended some of the teachers in the government schools falling in different areas of the Srinagar city today despite the fact that people were busy in Eid celebrations.
People in general have condemned the act and termed it as totally uncalled for since today was the second day of Eid celebrations in the state. The people said that suspension of teachers on second day of Eid is totally unwanted as the masses including the teachers were busy in celebrating the Eid.
According to the reports five teachers posted at Government Middle School, Shalteng were placed under suspension after they failed to turn up for their duties. The order was issued by Chief Education Officer, Srinagar and it has been written in the order that a charge sheet would be presented against the 'delinquent' teachers.
"The following teaching officials of Middle School Shalteng Zone Batmaloo are placed under suspension for their unauthorized absence from duties. Charge sheet shall be issued separately," reads the order issued by Malik Naseer, Chief Education Officer, Srinagar.
The teachers suspended are Gulshan Ara, Haseena, Sameera Hameed, Javed Ahmad and Gazala Gani. In the order it has been written that the suspended officials shall remain attached in the same school i.e., Middle School Shalteng Zone Batmaloo.
The story does not stop here but there is yet another dimension to the whole thing. On June 4, the Zonal Education Officer, Gulab Bagh suspended as many as 18 teachers after they failed to turn up for their duties. The action was taken against the teachers deputed in the Srinagar district and no such report has come from any other district of the state.
Sources told Early Times that although some of the teachers had opted for a casual leave on June 4 still then the higher ups of the Department of School Education suspended these teachers along with the other teachers. This action was taken following a 'surprise' check by the Director School Education Kashmir.
"During surprise inspection of the institutions of Zone Gulab Bagh by Director School Education Kashmir, the following teachers/officials of the institution shown against were found absent from their duties. Besides, the institutions were found locked," reads the order issued by Zonal Education Officer, Gulab Bagh.
The teachers suspended by Zonal Education Officer, Gulab Bagh are Anjum Ara Malik, Ruqiya Parveen, Neelofar Jan, Asiya Manzoor, Jameela Hassan, Rukhsana Tabasum, Neelofar, Neelam Abdullah, Kounsar Jan, Shaista Rashid, Ruby Jan, Suriya Khan, Gulshan Khan, Nahida Mahmood, Shaheera Yousuf, Abida Fazili, Rafia Tabassum and Asima Hamid.
These teachers/ masters/ teacher grade II were posted at Boys Middle School Zakura, Boys Middle School Habak, Boys Middle School Baghatishoor and Girls Middle School Zakura. These officials have been suspended and not attached whatsoever.
