LMVs to ply from both sides, HMVs only one-way on Kashmir highway
6/7/2019 12:15:39 PM
SRINAGAR: Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will ply from both sides while Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) only one-way on the National Highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, a traffic police official said on Friday.
Only one-way traffic is allowed on historic 86-km-long Mughal road, which is seen as alternative to Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Two-way traffic will continue to ply on the National Highway, linking Ladakh region with Kashmir with some restrictions.
Traffic official said that LMVs will ply from both Srinagar and Jammu on Friday. However, vehicles will have to leave Jakheni Udhampur from 0800 hrs to 1400 hrs. From Zig Qazigund, vehicles had to leave between 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs.
He said HMVs will continue to ply from one-way only. Today, vehicles will ply from Srinagar to Jammu only and no HMV will be allowed from opposite direction. Vehicles had to leave Qazigund from 1800 hrs to 0400 hrs of Saturday.
He said only one-way traffic will continue to ply on Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region.
Today only Kashmir bound vehicles will be allowed to ply, he said, adding that LMVs will have to leave Behramgalla from 0500 hrs to 0900 hrs and HMVs from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction and after the deadline.
