Early Times Report
Doda, June 06: General public of Doda town and it's adjoining areas of the District particularly the poor masses who were the best beneficiaries of the 10 bedded Ayush Hospital located in the old premises of the District Hospital Doda have been made to suffer by none other than the government authorities by it's sudden closure without any viable alternate, causing great resentment among the poor masses.
It is pertinent to mention that the said hospital which has been working since last one decade was a glaring example of popularising the Unani and Ayurvedic system of treatment which is evident from the fact that almost 150-200 patients per day were visiting the hospital. Since the decision to use the said premises as a makeshift arrangement for new medical college has been taken the the Doctors and paramedic staff of the said Ayush Hospital are moving pillar to post for retaining a small part of the said premises which was renovated and customized by them as per their needs and requirements but to their utter dismay they are subjected to a step motherly treatment and made to feel aliens at the hands of same government authorities which make big claims of making Ayush popular among the masses as an alternate to other pathies.
The general public of the Doda town feels that it will be great injustice with the zealous staff of the Ayush hospital Doda in particular and the poor beneficiaries of the said hospital in general if they are evicted from the said premises where they have been housed for last more than one decade.
It will be a killer blow to the efforts made during all these years whereby patients have become familiar with the place and are accustomed to the medical system for which huge investment has been made by the government. The callousness of the authorities is evident from the fact that police post housed in the old district hospital premises which has nothing to do with patient care is in possession of almost 8 rooms and the Ayush hospital which is a ray of hope for the poor people who are not even able to think of other modes of costly treatment and get free of cost medicines and treatment through Ayush.
The people therefore earnestly implored upon the government to very kindly spare the part of the building in which Ayush Hospital Doda is housed for the larger interest of the poor people who are benefitted by it and do not push them to wall to agitate for their genuine and just demands.
However they urged upon the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir state, Advisor to Governor Health and Medical Education and Commissioner Secretary to Government Health and Medical Education Department to look into the matter and requested them to revisit the decision of eviction of Ayush Hospital from Old Hospital premises at Doda in the larger interest of the poor masses of the erstwhile District Doda in view of the fact that said Ayush Hospital is serving as only referral hospital for all the dispensaries of said system in the region. We are hopeful that authorities will hopefully take a decision addressing the aspirations of poor and common masses of the region and allow the Ayush Hospital Doda to function at old hospital premises Doda.
