Poonch, June 8: Accusing previous government coalition partners Bhartiya Janta Party and Peoples Democratic Party for muzzling the development aspirations of Rajouri and Poonch districts, National Conference on Saturday demanded for a high level probe into the utilisation of funds for construction of polytechnic college in Poonch.
Demanding probe, provincial president of Youth National Conference, Ajaz Jan said that polytechnic college in Poonch was a landmark decision by Omar Abdullah headed state government as the same was urgent need of hour to provide professional studies to local students.
He said that college was sanctioned in 2013 but the work is yet to take off even after a gap of six years and there are reports that a hefty amount from the sanctioned funds of project has been spent in ill-planned manner even before the commencement of work.
Everyone in Poonch wants an impartial probe into the matter and probe should be conducted through any central investigation agency, said Jan.
He issued these statements while addressing a public meet during by foot tour of Mandi block.
Jan also said that a number of esteemed development projects of Rajouri and Poonch have been shelved by previous government thereby breaking he developmental pace of the area.
He also sought intervention of governor administration in sluggish implementation of road construction schemes in Rajouri and Poonch and said that dozens of road projects in Rajouri and Poonch are lying incomplete since years and decades and concerned departments are least concerned over the same.
Jan also demanded posting of doctors and other allied staff in all the allopathic dispensaries sanctioned during Omar Abdullah led government in Palera, Bedar, Sathra and other villages of Poonch.
Earlier, people from Mandi block highlighted their issues before NC leader and called for immediate redressal of the same.
