Dir I&C discusses issues of industrial development with DDC Poonch

Jammu, June 13: Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra (KAS) held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Rahul Yadav (IAS) on 13-06-2019 and discussed various issues regarding industrial development in District Poonch. She informed that the Industries & Commerce Department can plan to set up a food processing cluster in District Poonch, as Poonch is a leading producer under horticulture sector with a wide variety of fruits and Maize. The fruits grown in the district are unique to the climate of the area and there is lot of scope of preservation, storage and processing of these fruits in the district. After processing the products so manufactured can be sold outside the District also. Ms Malhotra highlighted the fact that under the new IndustrialPolicy Service sector has also been placed at equal pedestal in terms of incentives by the Government and sought investment in Hotels and CA Stores/Cold Stores. She took up the issue of shortage of land bank for establishing industry and requested the Deputy Commissioner to identify suitable State land for transfer to Industries Department for setting up new Industrial Estates. Yadav assured to look into the matter and make available suitable state land soon.
Malhotra, thereafter inspected the facilities at the Trade Facilitation Centre at Chakkan-Da- Bagh, where a meeting was also held with the cross LOC traders. The President Abdul Raziq khaki & S krishan singh Awal of Traders Association brought into the notice of Director Industries that sudden suspension of Cross LoC trade without giving sufficient time has resulted in Blockage of huge capital of traders particularly related to perishable goods and demanded that the cross LoC Trade be re-started at the earliest.
