| Residents of Pochhal suffer due to water scarcity | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, June 23: Residents of Pochhal have strongly criticized the PHE department for its utter failure to supply potable water as a result of which the residents are continuously suffering a lot for want of drinking water. A social activist Asha Bhandari in her statement has said that in upper Pochhal near Shiv Mandir some selected influential families having political back ground are getting regular drinking water supply which has caused resentment among other residents. It may be worthwhile to mention here that these influential persons are holding illegal water connections which need to be physically verified.
She also said that the village women have to fetch drinking water from a long distance that too on their heads and this practice of fetching drinking water on heads is running since decades. Bhandari also said that the Ex-MLA before coming to power had made commitment to provide 8 inch supply of drinking water to Pochhal but he failed to fulfill his commitment even he has failed to supply drinking water from Naigadh water supply scheme before December 2016. She urged upon the Governor to immediately redress the grievances of residents of Pochhal and Kishtwar so that the public may not suffer any longer for want of drinking water. |
