Excise sleuths detect 4625 bottles of intoxicants at Toll Post Lakhanpur

KATHUA, June 23: Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs, the Excise Department at Toll Post, Lakhanpur near here thwarted another attempt of drugs smugglers to smuggle banned drug Codeine Phosphate.
On the intervening night of June 22 and 23, the alert sleuths of Excise Department Staff detected 4625 bottles of Drugs (Codeine Phosphate) in two trucks bearing registration No JK08E-3535 and JK03E-2085 at Toll Post Lakhanpur. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Dy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, Ashish Gupta along with Excise & Taxation Officers Rohit Sharma, Sandeep Gupta and Sajjad Ahmed Sofi, Inspectors, Javed Iqbal, Dheeraj Kumar, Varun Chandan, Sub-Inspectors, Kanwaljeet Shan, Aaqib Malik, Jugal Kishore, Sahil Choudhary, and Guards Davinder Singh, Sohan Lal, Nihal Singh and Naveen Sharma. Truck No JK03E-2085 was declared loaded with tiles and empty crates and 2nd truck bearing registration No JK08E-3535 was declared loaded with trade goods. M Raju, IAS, Excise Commissioner J&K Srinagar while appreciating the efforts of Excise team of Toll Post Lakhanpur for its sustained enforcement efforts in the area, has enjoined upon them to carry on such drives to thwart the nefarious design of drugs smugglers in future also.
