DC Jammu reviews arrangements at Yatri Niwas

JAMMU, JUNE 24: Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting with the senior officers of various departments to review the arrangements being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra 2019.

The DC reviewed the status of all facilities like power, drinking water, sanitation, transport, security, barricading, mobile toilets, clock rooms, langar arrangements and related services being made available to the Amarnathji yatris.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Rishpal Singh, SDM North Satish Sharma, SSP Tejinder Singh, SP North Amritpal Singh, DSP Traffic DS Katoch, Joint Director Tourism Shokat Malik, Health Officer Dr. Salim Khan and other senior officers from PHE, PDD, security, SRTC, JMC, Health, Information and irrigation were present in the meeting.

Giving emphasis on sanitation, Ramesh Kumar directed the concerned officers to keep the yatri niwas and its surrounding clean besides other areas where district administration has made arrangements for the pilgrimage like saraswati dham, vaishnavi dham, geeta bhawan, mahajan sabha, kranti hotel and sangam hotel. He also laid stress to allocate mobile toilets at these locations for the better facility for the pilgrims.

DC directed the senior officers of Police department to ensure that every langar site should be equipped with CCTV and proper lighting system. He asked them to expedite the process of granting permission to the langars.

On providing Identity proofs to the deputed staff, the DC directed the concerned departments to ensure better cooperation between them to avoid inconvenience to the staff at the time to pilgrimage.

On health-care, the DC was informed by the health officers that teams constituted of three doctors each are deputed at yatri niwas, which will perform their duties round the clock.

DC also asked the officers to set up registration counters, information counters, clock rooms, SRTC booking counters, telecom counters for sim and water purifiers for the devotees.

Deputy Commissioner along with other senior functionaries of various departments took round of Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar and reviewed arrangements made by the administration for the convenience of the pilgrims.

He directed the concerned officers to gear up their men and machinery to ensure adequate arrangements for the comfortable journey and stay of Yatris in the state. He asked the concerned departments to make sure that the pilgrims do not face any hardship on account of basic amenities.
