Srinagar venue shifted from Bakshi Stadium to SK Cricket Stadium
J&K on high alert ahead of I-Day celebrations

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 11: The twin capitals have been put on high alert ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Sources said amid inputs that Pakistan and its terror groups would try to meet their nefarious designs on the big day the security agencies have been put on high alert to foil any such apprehended move.
Sources said the administration was likely to host the Independence Day celebrations in Kashmir at the SK Cricket Stadium instead of the Bakshi Stadium, where the celebrations are traditionally held.
A senior official, however, said Bakshi Stadium was unlikely to be a venue as construction work was underway there.
Sources said the security has been beefed up around the SK Stadium and three tire security was in place around this cricket stadium in Gupkar, where from Governor SP Malik is scheduled to address the people.
Security pickets are being raised around the venue. Sources said the movement of vehicles in the area has also been restricted as barricades have been raised in the area. All roads leading to the venue have been blocked, sources said.
The security grid has been also put on alert in Jammu region and that police and paramilitary forces are maintaining 24-hour vigil.
"Three tier security grid is in place in Jammu. Apart from men in uniform, our personnel in civvies are also on the vigil," said a police official on the condition of anonymity.
It was reliably learnt that that over 100 nakas have been erected in and around Jammu city and that frisking of vehicles especially in the night hours was beefed up.
Sources said New Delhi has inputs that in the wake of the historic decision to remove special status of Jammu and Kashmir and dividing it into two union territories, the Pakistan based terror groups were desperate to strike in J&K.
"They (Pakistan) are desperate but we are prepared to foil their nefarious designs," said one official on the condition of anonymity.
