Anti-Dogra elements invoking Dogriyat to frighten Dogras
8/12/2019 11:08:30 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: The August 5, 2019 historic developments - abrogation of the state's special status and division of J&K into UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh - have rattled the vested interests and Jammu-based supporters of Kashmir-based and Kashmir-centric parties such as the Congress, the National Conference (NC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP). They are so rattled and desperate that they are trying their level best to mislead the people of Jammu and Ladakh saying abrogation of the state's separate status and creation of two UTs out of Kashmir will erode Dogra identity as people from other parts of India could come to Jammu to settle there, buy land in Jammu and grab job opportunities.
Where were they when Nehru transferred political power from Jammu to anti-Dogra and anti-Jammu Sheikh Abdullah? Maharaja Hari Singh, who had acceded his state to India, was forced to quit J&K and live and die in Bombay in exile? Sheikh Abdullah and his communal National Conference had in 1946 launched "Quit Kashmir Movement" against Maharaja Hari Singh and Dogras of Jammu. Sheikh Abdullah and Co had demanded separation of Kashmir from Jammu, saying the Dogras of Jammu had purchased the life, honour and dignity of Kashmiri Muslims by paring Rs 75 lakh to the British Government. Where were they when the Abdullahs and the Muftis were demanding greater autonomy and self-rule for J&K or trying to get J&K out of India?
Where were they when Omar Abdullah abused, insulted and ridiculed Maharaja Hari Singh and the Dogra Raj during his election rallies in Samba and other areas in 2002? He and his cronies in Jammu humiliated the Dogras and the Dogras had shown him his place by defeating all the NC candidates in the area. Omar Abdullah had condemned Maharaja Hari Singh and the Dogras as oppressors.
Where were they when the NC and the Congress coalition government cancelled the practice of issuance of Dogra Certificates to the Dogra youth of Jammu to hurt their interests? They didn't utter a word against the Abdullahs and Gandhis. They supported the anti-Dogra Abdullahs, Muftis, Gandhis, Geelanis, Mirwaizs, Yasin Maliks and who not in Kashmir? Where were they when Omar Abdullah and the Congress settled 1000s of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis at vital locations in Jammu district as well as Samba district?
Where were they when Abdullahs and Muftis repeatedly rejected the age-old demand in Jammu seeking state holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh?
One can refer to hundreds of instances to prove that these anti-Jammu elements consistently hobnobbed with Abdullahs, Muftis and Azads to erode the distinct identity of Jammu and Jammu Dogras. That they kept mum when the Abdullahs, the Muftis and the Azads and even Ram Madhavs tried their level best to create an impression that Jammu province was not an organic unit and that it consisted of plains of Jammu and (non-existent) "Chenab Valley" and "Pir Panjal region".
The people of Jammu province would do well not to walk into the trap of Jammu-based agents of Kashmir-based separatists and half-separatists. This is only course left to save Jammu Jammu and promote Dogra identity.
