Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 15: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency today visited Panchayat Dharap in Block Satwari, Jammu as a part of his mass contact programme.
During his door to door visit that was covered on a bicycle, the residents of villages Dharap informed Munish Gupta about several problems being faced by them on daily basis particularly lack of proper sewerage system, dilapidated condition of roads, lanes and by-lanes besides non-provision of public transport facility in their area.
Residents told Munish Gupta that the people of Dharap do not desire anything but better lanes and channelization of sewerage system in their area as potholed streets and drains overflowing with garbage have made their life miserable.
People of the area sought blacktopping or tiling of lanes and a proper network of drains so that they could heave a sigh of relief besides they also demanded introduction of public transport in the area as the locals are still forced to cover the distance from Dharap upto main road (Jeevan Nagar, Digiana-Bishnah Road) either by foot or by hitchhiking.
"We are fed up living along with stinking drains, dusty lanes and by-lanes while the lack of public transportation adds more to our miseries as there is no provision of mini bus or auto rickshaw service. Nobody cares for our problems and try to get a solution for them. We had high hopes when Kavinder Gupta got elected as MLA but sorry to say he never bothered to visit our area again after getting elected as legislator," said residents.
A large number of other inhabitants also narrated the difficulties being faced by them due to lack of basic amenities like proper sanitation, smooth lanes and by-lanes and public transportation, which is one of the major necessities they require on urgent basis.
