| Carmel Convent School celebrates 'National Sports Day' | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: Carmel Convent Hr. Sec. School celebrated 'National Sports Day' with zeal and zest on the eve of birth anniversary of the Hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand. A special programme was conducted that highlighted the importance of sports in one's life. Madhu Bandral, DSP, Jammu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Anju Gupta, ZPEO, Jammu was the Guest of Honour. They were accorded a warm welcome by the Management and Staff. The Programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by a prayer service to invoke the blessings of the almighty. A skit on the life of cricketer Harmanpreet Kour performed by the senior students won every heart present. The speech by Sports Captain Harshpreet Kour aptly depicted the role of sports in the integrated development of children.
The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour awarded the medals and certificates to the National Players of the academic year 2018-19 and winners of the various sports events conducted in the current session. The chief guest addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of sports in a child's life. She was delighted to see girls participating in almost all the Sports Event. She also applauded the School Principal, Sr. Maria Swati a.c for empowering girls and congratulated her for the school's outstanding achievements in various spheres. The sports luminaries interacted with the students and shared their vision and the glory of career in sports. |
